1. How do I apply for a new email account? Your email account creation should take place during registration or hiring. If you are in need of an email account have your department send a request to accounts@tulane.edu

2. Where can I check my email? On any of the computers in the library or computer labs.

3. I lost my password. How do I get a new one? You need to call the Tulane Help Desk at (504) 862-8888. They can reset your password while you are on the phone.

4. Do I need my account info to access other Tulane resources besides webmail? Yes, your username and password are required for:

Faculty and staff accounts remain active as long as the faculty or staff member is employed by Tulane University. Student accounts will be removed one month after graduation or after the student is no longer enrolled at Tulane.

6. Can I change my username because...

  • I am a new full-time Faculty member, and I'd prefer if my email address was just my last name? Yes, you can request a preference for your email address, since you are faculty. Count and make sure the requested username is between 3-8 characters.
  • I am a student and I would like my email address to say my entire last name? Sorry, students cannot change their address for this reason, only faculty can.
  • It says something embarrassing (i.e. jerk)? Yes, you can change it because embarrassment is a valid reason.
  • My username is (msmith8) and I am a student, and although my name is Michael Andrew Smith, I go by Andrew and not Michael, so can I request asmith8? Sorry, you cannot change it. Email username must go by the name you are registered under at the Registrar's Office.
  • I just received a new account sheet, but my last name is spelled wrong? You can have the account corrected asap. Please call the Help Desk.

7. My email address is incorrect in the online phone book. How can I get it corrected?

  • Faculty and Staff - click here.
  • Students must go Uptown to the Registrar's office (Room 110, Gibson Hall).

8. Can Clinical/Volunteer Faculty apply for an account?
Yes, if patron is a current Tulane affiliate whose status is changing to clinical faculty follow the instructions for applying a new account . If becoming clinical faculty from the outside, i.e. brand new to Tulane, then send a letter from department head to Accounts@tulane.edu, including:

a. Full Name & Social Security # of who needs account
b. Confirming status of clinical/volunteer faculty member
c. Why and How Long they need e-mail account
